Sticky rice is a great accompaniment to many popular Thai dishes, particularly grilled meats. It is sticky and chewy and I personally much prefer it to ordinary rice. This is a just a quick guide to show you how to make great tasting sticky rice at home using just a microwave (in case you don’t own a steamer!)

Cooking instructions
Step 1: Measure out the amount of glutinous rice that you want to use and place it into a bowl. Fill the bowl with cold water and then drain it to wash the rice. Repeat this step 2 to 3 times.
Step 2: Fill the bowl with cold water and leave the rice to soak for about 4 hours. Make sure the rice is covered by the water completely.
Step 3: Cover the bowl with cling film, and place in the microwave for 4 minutes on high.
Step 4: Leave to cool for 1 minute, then microwave for a further 2 minutes on high
Step 5: Remove the cling film and serve!
Be careful when removing the cling film as the steam underneath is extremely hot! We hope you found this useful. If you have any questions regarding Thai cooking, let us know and we will make you a video response! Do you like sticky rice? Let us know in the comments below!
