Roti is similar to a crispy pancake and is a sweet snack that is pan fried and then usually served with condensed milk and sugar, but also works great with chocolate sauce, banana, and anything sweet! It is quite simple to make, and does not require many ingredients.
This recipe will make about 6 to 8 roti depending on how big you make them, and it will take about half an hour of preparation time.

Cooking instructions
Step 1: Begin by sifting 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour into a mixing bowl so as to remove any lumps.
Step 2: Then make a crater in the centre of the bowl, and slowly pour 1 cup of water into the crater, mixing with your hand. Keep mixing until the water is completely mixed with the flour.
Step 3: Now add in 1 beaten egg, and knead into the dough, then pour in 1/4 cup of melted margarine, and knead into the dough for a few minutes.
Step 4: Now brush a container with some cooking oil, and roll the dough into balls about the size of a tennis ball, using your hands. You should aim to get about 6 to 8 balls out of the dough. Coat the balls of dough with some cooking oil, then let them rest for about 2 hours.
Step 5: After 2 hours, brush some cooking oil onto a plate, then take one of the dough balls and flatten it out into a very thin sheet using your hands. Then coat a pan with a small amount of melted margarine, and once hot, fry the sheet of roti. Fry it on both sides for a couple of minutes until it is golden brown and crispy, then you are ready to serve.
Step 6: To serve, you can either cut it up into bite sized pieces, or just fold it up. We drizzled on some condensed milk and sugar, but you could also try other toppings like chocolate or strawberry sauce, or anything you like!
You don’t have to use all the dough balls at once, just keep them in the fridge until you are ready for some roti! So we hope you enjoyed the recipe, if you have any questions just leave a comment and we will get back to you. Thanks for watching, and we hope to see you again soon!
