Spicy Seafood Stir Fry Recipe (Pad Cha)

This is a hot and spicy chilli paste stir fry that we have made with squid, shrimp, salmon and mussels, however you can use whatever combination of mixed seafood you prefer. The grachai root adds flavour to the chilli paste, and fish sauce and sugar add some saltiness and sweetness to the dish.

This is a tasty and quick stir fry to make that is perfect for anyone who loves spicy food and seafood.

  • 300g mixed seafood
  • 1 clove chopped garlic
  • 5 chopped bird eye chillies
  • 1/2 bell pepper sliced (mixed colours)
  • 50g grachai
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp chilli paste

Step 1: Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a wok or pan on a high heat, then add 1 chopped clove of garlic and 50g of sliced grachai and stir fry for about 30 seconds.

Step 2: Then add 1/2 sliced bell pepper and 5 chopped bird eye chillies, and stir fry for about 1 minute.

Step 3: Now add 2 tbsp of chilli paste, mix everything together, and add 300g of mixed seafood, 1 tbsp of fish sauce, and 1 tbsp of sugar.

Step 4: Stir fry for 5 minutes or until the seafood is cooked, and serve! We served ours with steamed jasmine rice, you can also add a fried egg if you wish.
