Step 1: Slice about 300g of beef steak into thin strips. Then place the beef strips into a mixing bowl and add 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 tbsp of soy sauce and 2 tbsp of oyster sauce. Mix into the beef thoroughly, and leave to marinade for about 15 minutes. (the longer the better)
Step 2: While the beef is marinading, we can prepare the vegetables. Slice half an onion, then remove the stalks from 4 peppers, and slice them diagonally. Do the same with the 2 red and 2 green chillies. Finally crush 3 cloves of garlic in a mortar and pestle.
Step 3: Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a wok on a high heat, then add the crushed garlic cloves, and marinated beef. Stir fry for 2 minutes until the beef is half cooked, pour 1/4 cup of water into the bowl that we marinated the beef in, along with 1 teaspoon of meat seasoning powder. Give the water a stir so that it mixes with the powder and remaining marinade, then pour into the wok.
Step 4: Give everything a stir, then add the sliced onion, sliced chillies, and sliced peppers. Stir fry everything for a final 3 minutes or so until the beef and vegetables are cooked, then serve and enjoy! We had this spicy stir fry dish with some steamed jasmine rice, and it was delicious – particularly if you are a fan of peppers and chillies!
