These are colourful sweets that are simple to make and use only 6 ingredients. They are like very soft jelly sweets, with a moist top, and nowhere near as chewy as most western jelly sweets. We have used moulds to give them fun shapes, but you could use any container that is suitable for steaming.

Cooking instructions
Step 1: First we need to make our jasmine syrup. Add 2 1/2 cups of water to a saucepan, along with 3 drops of jasmine essence, and 3/4 cup of sugar. Stir and heat on a low heat until the sugar has dissolved into the water. Then set the syrup aside for a couple of minutes to cool.
Step 2: While the syrup is cooling, add 1 cup of rice flour and 1 tbsp of ground arrowroot to a mixing bowl, then stir together.
Step 3: Next slowly pour the syrup into the mixing bowl whilst stirring. Keep stirring until the mixture is lump free.
Step 4: Now separate out the mixture into bowls, use as many bowls as colours you want to use. We chose 5 colours so used 5 bowls. Pour a drop of the food colouring you want into the bowl, and stir.
Step 5: Now pour the coloured mixtures into a mould that is suitable for steaming, and steam for 15 minutes on a low heat, but lift the lid to let out any excess steam, every 5 minutes or so. The sweets will be moist at the top, but solid all the way through.
Step 6: Let the sweets cool and set for about 30 minutes, then remove them from the mould, and they are ready to eat!
