This is another great way to liven up instant noodles when you want a noodle fix but are short on time or don’t feel like cooking. The taste of this dish is mild but not bland, and the key ingredient is the shrimp paste with soya bean oil, which I have linked to below in case you don’t know what it looks like.
The whole dish should be ready in under 10 minutes, is cheap to make, and very straight forward.

Cooking instructions
Step 1: Start by soaking 1 pack of instant noodles in boiling water.
Step 2: Then heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil in a wok on a high heat, and fry 1 cup of peeled shrimp until they are almost cooked. Once they are nearly cooked, remove them from the wok and set aside. In the same wok add 2 cloves of chopped garlic and 2 tbsp of shrimp paste with soya bean oil. Mix together, then drain the noodles and add them to the wok.
Step 3: Thoroughly mix the noodles in with the garlic and paste, then add in the shrimp that we just fried, along with 1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes, 1/2 cup of watercress, 5 dried chillies and 1 tbsp of fish sauce. Stir fry everything together for a final 1 to 2 minutes, then add in 1/2 cup of basil, turn off the heat, stir one final time, then serve and enjoy!
